Aloo Tikki
Cooking time: 45 mins
Serves: 4-6
Ingredients
- 500g potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 50g bread crumbs
- 50g green peas, boiled and mashed
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
Method
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, bread crumbs, mashed peas, chopped onion, green chilies, coriander leaves, ginger paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Divide the mixture into small portions and shape each portion into round or flattened patties.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the prepared aloo tikkis in the pan. Fry them until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Flip them gently to ensure even cooking.
- Once the tikkis are cooked, remove them from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve the hot aloo tikkis with mint chutney, tamarind chutney, or tomato ketchup. You can also serve them as a filling inside a bun or with a side of yogurt and salad.
Enjoy!
